A ‘Highway Dilapidation Survey’ or ‘Highway Condition Survey’ can reduces risk of claims against you following your development.
A survey of the local road network, used by your construction vehicles, is undertaken before works commence to identify any pre-existing defects. These are photographically logged and a report produced as an evidence base for submission to the Local Highway Authority.
Following completion of the development, the survey is re-visited and the highway condition is re-assessed. Any change in the highway condition, that is attributed by the construction activities beyond any anticipated wear and tear, may require remedial works to be carried out.
Ensure that you avoid the risk of the Local Highway Authority requesting that you repair or make good defects that already existed.
Craig Oakes Transport Planning have completed a number of Highway Dilapidation surveys for a range of projects.
